Home from Home

The kitchen has all the items you will need for your holiday and if you're planning to do some serious cooking with the local produce from the shops in Kingussie, the kitchen has all the equipment you need.  It's a great holiday activity to do some baking with the kids or to take turns to cook something.

There is a fridge and small freezer compartment, cooker, microwave, sandwich toaster and food processer and a full range of saucepans and good quality pans.  When you're ready to serve:  Denby Pottery - enough for six people - matching plates, sideplates, salad plates, cups and saucers, wine glasses and of course, whisky glasses (you're in Scotland!).

What used to frustrate us when we went on holiday was the lack of any decent cookware and so we resolved to solve this for guests at Ben Nevis.  You'll find everything you need including both cooking equipment and tableware to serve it on.

There is an additional breakfast table in the

kitchen - and it's a place to sit and relax with

a drink whilst the kids watch TV.

The kitchen opens onto the garden through double doors, and you can get out into the garden and sit on the bench in the sunshine and listen to the birds twitter in the day, and the hear the owls hooting and watch bats flying at night.  There is a light outside so you can sit out as long as you like.

Whilst we don't like to bring it up, we know from experience that kids and adults all get their clothes dirty when they are outside having fun outdoors.  We've provided a washing machine and tumble drier - so you can save yourself the hassle of having to do a pile of washing when you get back home!

On the other hand, if you don't feel like cooking there are plenty of restaurants and take-aways in Kingussie - with a range of different menus to suit everyone.  Please see the 'restaurants' section for more information.

The Lounge
The Magical Dining Room

The large lounge has a comfortable leather 3 piece, with settee, and 1 armchairs, and there is an additional antique victorian chair with interesting carving.  A coffee table and homely lamps create a cosy atmostphone.  A brand new, flat-screen TV and DVD/CD player (with a recorder, in case there is something you really can't miss!)  - and you have 'freesat from Sky' if you need it.  The coal-effect electric fire makes it easy to give some extra warmth to the room on those winter nights.  Gather round for the film! You'll find a number of DVDs on the shelves, with some great old and new movies.

Someone who stayed described the dining room as magical.  The large oak table which seats 8, and matching sideboard certainly encourages people to eat together as a family, and there is an extra set of cutlery and table mats.  With some local steak or lamb from Mr Gow's butchers - or a goats cheese and aubergine melt - you can make your favourite meal and dine in style.

The Bedrooms

All 3 bedrooms have good quality beds, mattresses and bedding - hotel quality linen in pure white and cream, and cosy pillows. Bed linen, towels and tea towels are all included in the price.

There is one double bedroom with a double bed; one triple which has a double plus a full-size single.  A further single means that you can comfortably sleep 6.

There are two bathrooms  one en-suite to the main bedroom and another large family shower room with shower cubicle, toilet and sink.  The en-suite has a full bath a toilet and sink.

The Bathrooms

There is a medium sized garden, half is a patio with a bench, table and chairs, and then steps lead up to a lawn and barbeque area.  There's also a small shed for storing bikes and skis if you need it.
